My name is Paul Lord, and my lifelong love for music began in childhood. At just four years old, I was given a small piano, I was captivated by the sounds I could create. That early spark of curiosity grew into a deep passion, and in my teens, I picked up a guitar. With no formal training, I dove headfirst into learning by ear, piecing together the rhythms and melodies I heard on my favourite records. The challenges of teaching myself only fueled my determination, and each breakthrough deepened my connection to music.
Eventually, I attended music college, where I became deeply immersed in theory, performance, and composition. Guitar was my primary focus, but composition and understanding the mechanics of music captured my curiosity. I went on to major in composition at Sheffield University, where I also explored Jazz & Counterpoint and also honed my performance skills. During this time, I gigged extensively with bands, often playing original music and contributing to the writing and performance process.
I began teaching guitar privately while at college and later taught in schools and for the local education authority. My career also includes scoring award-winning films, producing radio work for organisations like the National Trust, and creating recordings for the BBC and many other well known companies. From 2025 onward, my sole focus is music, and I’m deeply committed to inspiring and guiding my students, sharing not just my expertise but the joy and fulfilment that music brings to our life.
